 Design competition for a logo for the Fourth BRICS Summit in New Delhi, 2012

 

  • This design competition is open to Indian citizens (resident and non-resident) and to persons of Indian origin.
  • The winning entry will receive Rs 50,000 (or equivalent thereof).

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2012 

 

The tenth edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention will be held in Jaipur from 7-9th January, 2012. The Prime Minister will inaugurate this flagship event of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs on January 8 and the President will deliver the valedictory address on 9 January. 

In the forthcoming PBD, there will as usual be discussions related to development issues such as health, education, youth and inclusive growth etc. It is expected that PBD will have enthusiastic participation from the diverse overseas Indian community spread across the globe. 

The effort is to have a meaningful and interactive event that would address issues and concerns of the overseas Indian community. Overseas Indians have emerged as important constituents of their adopted countries. They have contributed to transforming the economies, participating in political process and added value to thought and innovation of their destination countries. They also serve to build bridges between their present homeland and the land of their ancestors.

GUIDELINES FOR KNOW INDIA PROGRAMME (KIP)

 

1.Tentative schedule- 18th Know India Programmes  21st September 2011 - 11th October 2011 Goa/Rajasthan

19th KIP 21st December 2011- 10th January 2012 Rajasthan 

 

2.Duration of the programme would be for 3 weeks.

 

3. The Programme is open to youth of Indian origin (excluding non-resident Indians) in the age group of 18-26 years as on the first day of the

month in which the Programme commences. It is open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) from all over the world.

 

4.The total number of participants in any KIP may not exceed 40 at a time.

 

5.Minimum qualification required: holding Graduate degree or studying for graduation

 

6.The applicants should be able to converse in English. 

 

7.The applicant should not have participated in any previous KIP or Internship Programme for Diaspora Youth (IPDY). Students and those who have not visited India before are encouraged to apply.

Notice For Overseas Indian Electors

 
Notification has been issued under Rule 8A of Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 by the Chief Electoral Officers of election going States of India. 
 
With the amendments in the Representation of the Peoples Act 2010, overseas electors (only Indian passport holders) are to submit their registration forms to be able to exercise their franchise in their respective constituencies.   All overseas electors (Indian passport holders only) whose place of residence in India is  one of the above-mentioned States , and who are desirous of registering his/her name in the electoral roll, are invited to submit claim application in Form 6A (can be downloaded from the Election Commission of India's website) and submit the same either in person directly to the registration officer of the constituency concerned or sent to such registration officer by post. When the application is sent by post, it should be accompanied by photocopies of the relevant pages of the passport duly self attested by the overseas elector and not by the missions/posts. The decision of the Electoral Registration Officer of the constituency on the application will be communicated to the applicant by post.

Pl. note that consulate’s role is restricted to attesting the documents required to be submitted for  such an application.  Consulate will not be collecting / forwarding/processing such applications, which are required to be submitted directly to the registration officers of different constituencies in India. The law requires such  overseas electors to be present in person at their home constituencies at the time of voting.
